Holidays and Traditions in Korea

November 11: Pepero Day. The chocolate covered biscuit sticks are eaten or given out as presents since it resembles the day “11.11″ (On this day I got surprise from him...suka2)

Mid November : College entrance exams. (usually on the coldest day of the year) To “stick” or pass the exam, friends and family give test takers chocolates, rice cakes or “yeot” (traditional taffy) for good luck. (On this day my professor, told us abt tough Korean academic)

December 25: Christmas. Generally, the holiday is spent hanging out with close friends more than family. (I went out with HunB, his friends (하나 씨,종어 오빠,민준 오빠),Tac and Duyen)

January 1, New Years: Spent with family. To bring in the new year, rice-cake soup (떡국) is traditionally eaten. Yum! (On this day I was in Seoul, celebrated new year at Big Golden Gold..near city hall)

January/February: Lunar New Year. One of the 2 biggest holidays of the year (the other is Chuseok) to celebrate the new lunar year. The dates varies according to the lunar calendar. (Similar with Gong Xi Fat Chai. On that day my oppa went home, ILSAN for a week..so long~)

February 14, Valentines Day: Celebrated on February 14, On this day, the women give chocolates or big basket of goodies to their men. This tradition is opposite to the west.
(hurmm..I don't celebrate this day. And oppa surely like it cz don't have to waste money on the gift as we show our love every day not only one day..plus hunB will go to China for travelling)

March 14, White day: Celebrated on March 14, exactly 1 month after Valentines Day. On this day, the men give chocolates or big basket of goodies to their women..(this date is almost close to my birthday~even I dont celebrate Valentine Day but White Day Is the most days I wait for as its near my Bday...heheh Oppa take note ya~)

April 14:. Black day: A day for lonely singles. Celebrated exactly 1 month after White Day (see above) where single friends meet up to eat Jjajang-myun (짜 장면 or Korean style black bean noodles) to mourn their status and to perhaps catch the eye of an attractive single slurping down noodles….(We won't celebrate Black Day this year.yay!..To Narumi,Aida,Yati,Cyrus..happy makan mee hailam pekat..hurry find your partner..Aida n Narumi bla lagi?)
